Good morning 👋
Every time I start working on a bigger feature, such as custom notifications this week, I’ll consistently get to a point within its development when I can’t see how I’ll ever manage to finish this. The task list keeps getting bigger by the hour. A lot of it is self-inflicted as the more time I spend on it, the more opportunity there is to think of more ideas. What especially prolongs the process is my desire to package complexity in simplicity’s clothes.
For example, I could have restricted the user to a single condition and timeframe to pick from. But being more of a power-user feature, I considered keeping the functionality simple to be a counter-intuitive approach. The last thing I want is to ship a v1 that’s in clear need of multiple iterations before anyone is happy with it, or even worse, needing to restart from scratch to accommodate user feedback.
Here’s a sneak peek at where I am today:
I definitely wouldn’t have had anything noteworthy to share if it wasn’t for the three child-less days.
Although Appy Weather celebrated its one-year anniversary on Google Play on Thursday, there was no time for 🥳 because I’m stressing about getting the above done, and much, much more for the update before Dark Sky shuts down on Android on July 1. At this point, I’m feeling 50/50 about getting everything I’d like completed for then.
Have a relaxing Sunday! Mine shall be spent in Visual Studio.
Best,
Bardi
