Good morning 👋
Last month was the first when I’m taking home 85% – as opposed to 70% – from every sale on Google Play. +15% may not sound like much, but it definitely makes a difference. Considering my current average monthly revenue, it’s unlikely to lead to an early retirement but it does make life slightly more comfortable. Revenue has stabilised over the last 12 months, which is not totally a bad thing. I know I’m not going to make more than a certain amount but I also know I’m not going to make any less either. There’s something reassuring about this. Knowing and not dreading or – in some ways worse – hoping. A predictable baseline is for the most part due to subscription renewals kicking in. There’s no way I’d have achieved it otherwise. This because growth naturally flattens when you have an app of moderate popularity with no active marketing efforts. One way to guarantee a more regular stream of customers is by being available in more places, hence the importance of iOS. That said, I’m by no means done – now or ever – with the Android version and know for its popularity to peak a 2.0 is possibly the easiest means to grow. It will get another round of press, and enough time will have passed for people who rejected the app last time to give it another go. The aim is to go for a second Material Design award in 2022. Considering it will be adopting Android’s latest and greatest UI framework, I’m feeling confident about the possibility.
Have a great Sunday! Mine will be spent with dinosaurs.
Best,
Bardi
You may consider releasing your apps on Huawei's AppGallery as an alternative.
